Each day, drink half your body weight in ounces of filtered or purified water. The many amazing health benefits from simple old water are excessively numerous for me to go into here. I'll just limit myself to explaining how water aids detoxify your system by moving away waste products more efficiently and helping your colon, digestive and body detox systems to do their jobs. When you do drink, keep in mind that water is best taken at room temperature Between meals, though you can drink up to half a glass of water (120 ml/4 fl oz) during meals. Drinking excessive of any liquid while eating can dilute your hydrochloric acid, that is so necessary in the digestion of protein and the absorption of acid-based minerals like calcium and iron. And wait until 2 hours after you've eaten to drink any more.
Most of us tend to be dehydrated, drinking too little water and too much coffee, tea and caffeinated fizzy drinks. These all are likely to dry us out, thanks to the diuretic characteristics of caffeine. If you wait to drink until you actually feel thirsty, you have waited too long: dehydration starts long before we are conscious of it. So make certain you drink at least half your body weight in ounces throughout your day. And don't substitute another fluid, especially during the whole time you're on a body detox. It's water that your body requires. You may be astonished at how much better you feel when this requirement is finally met.
Water, Water, Everywhere . . .
I wouldn't exactly tell you to avoid bottled water, if only since you need to make your detox as easy you can. But you should be aware that quality-control standards for bottled water are sometimes less rigorous than those for tap water.
'Mineral' waters are tested for 13 chemicals and bacteria - less than a quarter as many substances as tap water. There're also no requirements, as there're for tap water, for mineral waters to be tested on a daily basis or even weekly. For 'spring' waters, there is no legislation at all.
So if you're really concerned about high-quality water, your best bet is a home filtration system. I have found that the Doulton Ceramic Water Filter, a 3-stage system, is the most effective water filtration device available. In the first phase, the tiny pores in the ceramic eliminate bacteria, parasites, rust and dirt.
